The Lee CTA U18 JTT team had 13 players drawn from several high schools throughout Berkshire County. Their only opponent was an U18 team based at Wyantenuck Country Club in South Egremount. The team had to travel to the Pioneer Valley area to find more competition. One of the Lee CTA's goals is to assist other BC towns to form U18 JTT teams; developing a strong BC league will only help our own kids become stronger players.
This U18 team was coached by Matt Vaughn, a JR at Embry-Riddle in Daytona Beach. Matt played varsity tennis for four years at Mt. Greylock and competed at #1 singles since his sophomore year. The team enjoyed great success in the county as well as in the playoffs, reaching the State final on two occasions. He continues playing tennis in the intramural college leagues and is pursuing a degree in meteorology from Embry-Riddle in Daytona Beach.
Matt brought together a diverse but strong team, led by Lee High School tennis star Tanner DeVarennes. Between the two of them, they kept the team highly motivated and energized, paying off with a great finish at the Forest Park Championships!
